Alida Harper

alida_harper_pic_Alida had an astounding impact on the preservation of Savannah's architectural traditions.

Born in 1908, Alida Harper loved the house as a young woman. She regularly rode in the Barnard Street bus and when it passed the house, she stretched to see it, thinking "Some day I will own that house."

"Alida Harper has impacted on many Savannahians by claiming the title as the first restorationist in town."

She lived through the turbulent milestones in American history, the great depression, both world wars and the Vietnam war. As a woman of invariable determination, Alida's wisdom and traditional values were recipe to her success.
